HOW BIG IS BABY? 14.8 INCHES WEIGHING 2.22 LBS POUNDS  – ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SMALL CABBAGE

DEVELOPMENT: MY LITTLE GIRL’S EYES ARE NOW PARTIALLY OPEN AND HER TINY EYELIDS ARE ABLE TO BLINK. EVEN THOUGH HER EYES MAY HAVE SOME COLOUR, THE FINAL PIGMENTATION WILL REQURE EXPOSURE TO LIGHT. BABY RUSH IS ABLE TO RECOGNIZE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF LIGHT, EVEN INSIDE MY WOMB. EVEN THOUGH SHE STILL HAS TO GROW A LOT, HER LITTLE BODY IS GETTING CHUBBIER AS FAT IS DEPOSITING UNDER HER WRINKLED SKIN. BABY’S MUSCLES ARE DEVELOPING SOME TONE AS WELL. (SHE WORKS OUT) SHE ALSO HAS A 95 PERCENT CHANCE OF SURVIVAL IF BORN AT THE END OF THIS WEEK! NOT THAT I WANT HER TO COME EARLY BUT A LITTLE EASE OF MIND THAT IF SHE WERE TO COME EARLY, SHE HAS A PRETTY HIGH CHANCE OF SURVIVAL. HER LUNGS ARE ALSO BETTER PREPARED TO BREATHE, BUT WOULD STILL NEED SOME MEDICAL ASSISTANCE.

WEIGHT GAIN: STILL AT 12 LBS

SLEEP: SLEEP IS STILL PRETTY GOOD, OBVIOUSLY I STILL HAVE BACKACHES BUT THAT BOPPY PREGNANCY PILLOW DOES WONDERS! CORY WANTS ONE FOR HIMSELF TOO. HAHA

MISSING: WORKOUTS AND WARM WEATHER!! THE WEATHER HERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH COLDER THAN PREVIOUS YEARS, AND I AM NOT A FAN. LAST YEAR I REMEMBER GOING TO THE BEACH IN THE BEGINNING OF JANUARY IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER. TODAY AND YESTERDAY WE HAD A LITTLE ICE/SNOW STORM COME THROUGH, WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY VERY RARE FOR CHARLESTON. IT DIDN’T REALLY SNOW, IT WAS MORE LIKE SLEET/HAIL AND THEN EVERYTHING FROZE. BUT THE NICE THING ABOUT IT IS THEY CANCELLED SCHOOL FOR 2 DAYS, SO I GOT TO SLEEP IN! I AM NOT IN SCHOOL BUT I VOLUNTEER AS A SEMINARY TEACHER FOR MY CHURH AT 6:30 EVERY MORNING AND IT IS ALWAYS NICE TO SLEEP IN A LITTLE DURING THE WEEK.

CRAVING: HM.. NOTHING IN PARTICULAR, EXCEPT CHOCOLATE STUFF I GUESS.

FEELING: STILL FEELING HUGE AND STRETCHED AND BLOATED. MY SIDE AND MY BACK HURTS A LOT, BUT OTHER THAN THAT I AM FEELING PRETTY GOOD! I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE THAT THIS BABY GIRL IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO GROW THROUGH 3 MORE MONTHS, I JUST DON’T KNOW HOW MY BODY CAN STRETCH THAT MUCH. LET’S HOPE I DON’T GET ANY STRETCH MARKS!

GENDER: GIRLY!

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: WATCHING MY BELLY MOVE AROUND FROM THE OUTSIDE AS BABY R KICKS AROUND. IT’S PRETTY CRAZY TO SEE WHEN I AM WORKING AND OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE I JUST SEE MY STOMACH MOVING AROUND, I LOVE IT AND I STILL LOVE FEELING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF HER KICKS. 🙂

LOOKING FORWARD TO: MAKING MORE LITTLE DRESSES FOR MY BABE! I ATTEMPTED HER FIRST DRESS LAST NIGHT AND TODAY AND IT WAS AN EPIC FAIL. I AM NOT MUCH OF A SEWER BUT BEFORE SHE COMES I AM GOING TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DRESS ALL MADE UP FOR HER! ALSO, I’M GETTY MY HAIR CUT TOMORROW, IT’S GETTING REAL SCRAGGLY SO I AM EXCITED FOR IT TO LOOK HEALTHY AGAIN!

It is getting to the point where it is hard to tie my shoes as well as paint my nails so sweet Cory gave me a nice little pedicure! It was so sweet watching him try to paint them so perfectly. Gotta love good husbands!

Our “snow” day, we walked around downtown today and checked out all the iced trees and ate some New York style pizza at this new place we have been wanting to try. Our car was completely frozen when we went out to the car, the door handles were all frozen so it took a little while to get in. We also didn’t have an ice scraper so we just used a cd case that we found and waited for the defrosters to kick in. All and all it was a good snow ice day.

HOW BIG IS BABY? 14.41 INCHES WEIGHING 1.93 POUNDS (ALMOST TO 2LBS!!)  – ABOUT THE SIZE OF A RUTABAGA

DEVELOPMENT: BABY RUSH HAS BEEN PRACTICING HER SUCKING REFLEXES ON HER THUMB IN ORDER TO PREPARE FOR BREASTFEEDING SOON! HER NEURONES AND BRAIN TISSUE ARE DEVELOPING RAPIDLY AND THE BRAIN WAVES ARE WORKING LIKE NEW BORN BRAIN WAVES. EVEN THOUGH BABY’S SKELETON IS COMPLETELY DEVELOPED, THE JOINTS ARE NOT YET CONNECTED. HER IMMUNE SYSTEM, LIVER AND LUNGS ARE STILL CONTINUING TO DEVELOP AND ARE PREPARING TO FUNCTION ON IT’S OWN. ALSO, HER TINY EYELIDS HAVE BEGUN TO OPEN AND HER RETINAS HAVE BEGUN TO DEVELOP.

WEIGHT GAIN: I’M UP 12 POUNDS NOW. IT IS ALWAYS KIND OF SAD TO SEE THE SCALE GO UP, BUT I KNOW IT’S A GOOD THING AND THAT BABY IS GROWING. IT IS JUST SO DEPRESSING TO SEE MY HIPS GETTING BIGGER AND MY ARMS FEELING THICKER. IT’S BEEN REALLY HARD FOR ME TO SEE MY BODY CHANGE SO RAPIDLY WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO DO MUCH ABOUT IT.  I AM EXCITED TO GET BACK IN THE GYM AND GET SOME GOOD HARD WORKOUTS IN! I’VE BEEN GOING TO THE GYM BUT I MAINLY JUST WALK AT AN INCLINE AND DO SOME STRETCHES AND LUNGES.

SLEEP: SAME AS USUAL. CORY HAS BEEN SO SWEET THIS WEEK AND HAS BEEN GIVING ME SOME EXTRA MASSAGES, IT HAS BEEN SO NICE!

MISSING: GOOD LONG, INTENSE WORKOUTS. OR REALLY JUST BEING ABLE TO GET A GOOD RUN IN.

CRAVING: WELL I HAVEN’T CRAVED CHOCOLATE AT ALL THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE PREGNANCY UNTIL NOW.. MAYBE BECAUSE VALENTINE’S DAY IS COMING UP AND YOU KNOW IT’S ALL ABOUT CHOCOLATES! I DON’T KNOW WHY, BUT IT’S A GOOD THING THAT WE DON’T HAVE A LOT IN THE HOUSE!

FEELING: I FEE LIKE A BIG FAT BLOB TO BE HONEST. UGHH I’M TIRED OF IT, MAYBE IT’S THIS COLD WEATHER THAT WE HAVE BEEN GETTING, IT MAKES ME WANT TO STAY INSIDE AND NOT DO ANYTHING. I SHOULDN’T COMPLAIN THOUGH, I KNOW THERE ARE MANY OF YOU OUT THERE WHO ARE IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER WITH A FOOT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND, WHILE I’M COMPLAINING ABOUT SOME 45 DEGREE WEATHER THAT WE’VE BEEN DEALING WITH FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW, BUT MAN AM I TIRED OF IT.

GENDER: GIRLY!

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: I DON’T REALLY HAVE ONE PARTICULAR MOMENT THAT I LOVED THIS WEEK, BUT WE HAD A NICE LONG WEEKEND WITH MLK DAY AND MY STUDENTS (I’M A SEMINARY TEACHER) HAD LAST THURSDAY AND FRIDAY OFF AND CORY DIDN’T HAVE ANY PATIENTS FROM MONDAY UNTIL TOMORROW SO WE HAVE GOTTEN TO SPEND A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TOGETHER. I LOVE SPENDING TIME WITH HIM, WE ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD TIME TOGETHER AND HE IS ALWAYS SO SWEET TO ME! *SORRY FOR THE SAPPINESS* BUT I JUST LOVE HIM TO PIECES! HE IS GOING TO BE SUCH A GREAT DAD.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: JANUARY TO BE OVER AND FOR IT TO WARM UP A BIT! I ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO THOSE ‘GOOD MORNING’ KICKS FROM MY BABE IN THE MORNING, SHE ALWAYS KNOWS WHEN TO SAY HELLO! 🙂

HOW BIG IS BABY? 14.02 INCHES WEIGHING 1.68 POUNDS! – ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HEAD OF LETTUCE

DEVELOPMENT: BABY GIRL IS RESPONDING BETTER TO DIFFERENT SOUNDS AND CAN NOW DISTINGUISH BETWEEN MY VOICE AND CORY’S VOICE! HER LITTLE BRAIN IS BEGINNING A PERIOD OF GROWTH AND OVER 50% OF BABY’S ENERGY WILL BE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE. HER LUNGS ARE DEVELOPING AIR SACKS (ALVEOLI) AND THE MEMBRANE THAT ALLOWS FOR EXCHANGE OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND OXYGEN IS NOW THIN ENOUGH TO LET HER TAKE A BREATH BY THE END OF THE WEEK. HER SKIN IS LOSE AND WRINKLY AT THIS POINT, BUT IT WILL SOON FILL IN WITH FAT DURING MY THIRD TRIMESTER. BABY R’S EYES ARE COMPLETELY DEVELOPED AND HER BRAIN IS ABLE TO REGISTER VARIOUS STIMULI SUCH AS A SOUND OF LIGHT.

WEIGHT GAIN: I HAVE GAINED A TOTAL OF 9 POUNDS SO FAR!

SLEEP: SO I FINALLY GOT A BOPPY PILLOW AND MY SLEEP IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW! IT IS STILL PRETTY UNCOMFORTABLE AT TIMES BUT THAT PILLOW DOES WONDERS! I HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME WEIRDO DREAMS AS USUAL, BUT I CAN’T REMEMBER ANY IN PARTICULAR EXCEPT ONE… WHICH WAS A SEX DREAM (SO WEIRD) AND I’M SURE NONE OF YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THAT… WELL MOST OF YOU. 😉

MISSING: WELL I AM NOW BEGINNING TO MISS BEING ABLE TO GO FOR A NICE LONG WALK WITHOUT MUCH DISCOMFORT BUT NOW AFTER WALKING FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES IT LITERALLY FEELS LIKE SOMEONE DROPPED A 10 LB BOWLING BALL IN MY BELLY AND ALL MY LIGAMENTS AND SKIN ARE STRETCHING. IT IS PAINFUL AND SO UNCOMFORTABLE! BUT I AM STILL TRYING TO GET MY 10,000 STEPS IN A DAY FROM MY FITBIT!

CRAVING: I HAVE BEEN SOOO BAD THIS WEEK! I AM CONSTANTLY CRAVING SWEETS!!! ESPECIALLY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, IT’S REAL BAD.

FEELING: BIGGER AND BIGGER AND VERY STRETCHED!

GENDER: BABY GIRL!

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: WELL I HAVE BEEN SO BAD AT POSTING LATELY AND I ACCIDENTALLY SKIPPED WEEK 25 SO WE HAD A LOT OF GREAT MOMENTS. BUT I GUESS ONE OF THEM WOULD BE WHEN OUR GOOD FRIENDS AND NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS GOT A NEW PUPPY AND WE GOT TO GO WITH THEM TO GET HER!! SHE IS THE CUTEST THING EVER! A DACHSHUND/TERRIER MIX AND CURLY (OUR DOG) AND HER GET ALONG JUST GREAT.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: MY THIRD TRIMESTER WHICH BEGINS NEXT WEEK!! WAHOO! ALMOST 2/3 OF THE WAY THERE!

HOW BIG IS BABY? 11.81 INCHES WEIGHING 1.32 POUNDS! – ABOUT THE SIZE OF A CANTALOUP

DEVELOPMENT: MY LITTLE GIRL IS GROWING SO MUCH AND HER HAIR IS BEGINNING TO CHANGE TO TEH COLOR THAT SHE WILL HAVE AT BIRTH! HER WEIGHT WILL DOUBLE IN THE NEXT FOUR WEEKS AND RIGHT NOW SHE WEIGHS ABOUT THE SAME AS A LENGTHY PAPERBACK NOVEL. HER LUNGS ARE DEVELOPING AND PREPARING FOR THEIR FIRST BREATHS. THEY ARE ALSO PRODUCING A SUBSTANCE CALLED SURFACTANT THAT HELPS IN KEEPING THE LUNGS FROM COLLAPSING OR STICKING TOGETHER DURING EXHALATION. LOUD NOISES MAY STARTLE BABY RUSH, WHICH CAUSES A SUDDEN JOLT IN MY UTERUS, SO I WILL TRY NOT TO SCARE HER. DUE TO BABY RUSH’S GROWTH, SPACE IN MY UTERUS IS GETTING REDUCED EVEN FURTHER FOR BABY.

WEIGHT GAIN: I STILL HAVEN’T HAD A CHANCE TO WEIGH MYSELF SINCE I’VE BEEN ON VACATION, BUT I’M REAL NERVOUS TO SEE THE SCALE WHEN I GET HOME.

SLEEP: SAME AS USUAL, BUT NOW EVERY NIGHT AROUDN 7 O’CLOCK MY RIGHT SIDE BY MY RIBCAGE STARTS ACHING REALLY BAD, IT’S LIKE WHEN ONE THING GOES AWAY ANOTHER THING POPS UP. SO WEIRD.

MISSING: BEING HOME. WE HAVE BEEN ON VACATION FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS NOW, AND WHILE IT HAS BEEN VERY FUN, I MISS BEING ON A SCHEDULE AND BEING HOME. WE GET BACK ON THE 3RD OF JANUARY!

CRAVING: NOT MUCH THIS WEEK

FEELING: HUGE!!! MY BELLY IS GROWING SO FAST AND IT IS EXCITING BUT ALSO DEPRESSING SEEING MYSELF GET BIGGER AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GO HAVE A NICE LONG AND INTESE WORKOUT TO LOSE SOME OF THIS HOLIDAY WEIGHT.

GENDER: BABY GIRL!

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: HAPPY NEW YEAR!! WE HAVE NOT REALLY SAT DOWN TO WRITE DOWN OUR RESOLUTIONS YET, BUT I GUESS ONE OF THEM WOULD BE TO NOT PROCRASTINATE LIKE I HAVE BEEN WITH MY UPDATES LATELY. I WANT TO SEW ANOTHER BLANKET AND SOME DRESSES FOR BABY GIRL, SO I BETTER GET STARTED! I DID ACTUALLY MAKE BABY’S FIRST BABY BLANKET THIS WEEK WITH CORY’S MOM AND I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO USE MY BERNINA SEWING MACHINE, SO I AM EXCITED TO GET HOME AND USE IT MORE!

LOOKING FORWARD TO: GETTING BACK HOME AND BEING ON A SCHEDULE AND BEING BUSY WITH WORK AGAIN!

Cory and I had our first big scare this past week which started our Christmas Eve off with a trip to the emergency room. What happened was when we were in Idaho my mom had planned for us to go to this awesome hot springs resort called The Springs up in Idaho City. I was a little hesitant to go because I knew that I wasn’t supposed to take hot baths, but my mom (who had 9 kids) said that it would be fine and that the water temperature was only about 80 degrees, so we went and had a great time! I tried not to stay in too long but it was so cold outside it was hard not to, so we took a break and ate in their outdoor heated tent and ate some yummy food. The whole time I was feeling the baby kick and everything seemed to be fine. After our fun night in Idaho City we drove back to Boise which was about an hour away, when we got home I went to the bathroom and noticed that there was a lot of blood in the toilet (first of all sorry for the details) so of course as any other pregnant woman I had a little freak out in my head. I immediately went to Cory and told him, a little bit following after that my stomach started cramping a little bit which scared me even more. I tried to go help Cory wrap some last minute presents but I just couldn’t focus on anything but my baby. Then I went and drank a large glass of orange juice and after I do that I usually get some kicks out of her within the first 10-20 minutes, so I waited and focused and I didn’t feel anything. So I went in our room and began to panic a little bit by myself and Cory came in and told me we should call our OB to see what he had to say. It was about 2:00am in Charleston so they had a different emergency OB on call that night and she said that it would be best if we just went into the emergency room just to make sure everything was okay. So we jumped in the car and drove to the emergency room around 12:30, since I was over 20 weeks along the sent us up to the actual prenatal department and they hooked up me so we could hear the baby’s heartbeat and luckily it was nice and strong! It was a little bit lower than it usually is but it was still a healthy heartbeat. The nurse said that with temperature of the water and the length of time I was in there added an extra rush of blood which put baby R in a deep sleep hence the fact that I wasn’t feeling any of her kicks. Once the nurse put the sound machine on my baby woke right up and and began kicking me hard for the rest of the night.  We were there for about 2 hours waiting for blood results to make sure I wasn’t O negative, because if I was I would have had to stay an extra hour and take a pill that would stop my antibodies from attacking that baby’s blood flow, so good thing that wasn’t the case. We definitely started our Christmas Eve off with a bang! Luckily everything was okay and baby girl was nice and healthy! I’m not looking forward to that emergency room bill to come in the mail though.

Other than the scare we had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year’s celebration! We headed back to Arizona for new years and went out to a fancy dinner and celebrated with my sister and her friends. We are so excited to see where 2014 takes us, we are in store for a lot including; baby Rush coming in April of course, Cory graduates from Dental school in May and then we will be moving cross country to Arizona on the first week of June. We are going back there while Cory works at his dad’s practice, so we have a very eventful couple of months ahead of us. Let’s just hope that we can find a good house to rent!

HOW BIG IS BABY? 11.38 INCHES WEIGHING 1.10 POUNDS! – ABOUT THE SIZE OF A GRAPEFRUIT

DEVELOPMENT: BABY RUSH IS NOW TO THE POINT WHERE IF SHE WAS BORN AT THE END OF THIS WEEK (WHICH I HOPE WON’T HAPPEN) SHE HAS A 50% CHANCE OF SURVIVAL. IN THE NEXT 5 WEEKS BABY WILL EXPERIENCE A MAJOR GROWTH SPURT, SO MY BELLY IS GOING TO GET HUGE SOON. HER CEREBRUM, A PART OF THE BRAIN THAT IS PART OF THE BRAIN THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MEMORY, MORTOR SKILLS, AND INTELLECT, IS PREPARING TO BE ABLE TO CONDUCT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CELLS. RAPID EYE MOVEMENTS (REM) HAVE BEGUN TO OCCUR DURING HER SLEEP. THE HAIR ON BABY’S BODY IS DARKENING AND EVEN THE SKIN IS GAINING SOME PIGMENT. HER BONES AND ORGANS ARE STILL VISIBLE THROUGH THE SKIN; HOWEVER, THEY WILL SOON BECOME LESS VISIBLE DUE TO CONTINUED FORMATION OF FAT.

WEIGHT GAIN: I STILL HAVEN’T HAD A CHANCE TO WEIGH MYSELF SINCE I’VE BEEN ON VACATION, BUT I’M REAL NERVOUS TO SEE THE SCALE WHEN I GET HOME.

SLEEP: SAME AS USUAL BUT MY SIATIC NERVE HAS GOTTON BETTER WHICH IS NICE!

MISSING: SINCE WE ARE AROUND THE SNOW I WISH I COULD GO SNOWBOARDING AND SLEDDING!

CRAVING: WELL THIS BABY LOVES HER SWEETS, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE CHRISTMAS GOODIES SURROUNDING ME. USUALLY I AM PRETTY GOOD BUT I HAVE BEEN PRETTY HORRIBLE LATELY. OOPS!

FEELING: BACK PAIN AS USUAL AND BABY’S KICKS ARE GETTING MORE NOTICEABLE 🙂

GENDER: BABY GIRL!

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: CHRISTMAS TIME!

LOOKING FORWARD TO: JUST BEING WITH FAMILY AND ENJOYING THIS WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS SEASON.
