WEIGHT GAIN: STILL AT 20 LBS.

SLEEP: SAME AS USUAL. BUT I HAVE BEEN DREAMING MORE ABOUT MY BABE AND GIVING BIRTH TO HER AND NOT FEELING READY AT ALL (PREPARATION WISE).

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: GETTING TO WATCH MY BELLY MORPH INTO MANY DIFFERENT SHAPES AS I WATCHED BABY GIRL MOVE ALL OVER THE PLACE. SHE IS AN ACTIVE ONE ALRIGHT! I LOVE IT WHEN I PUT MY HAND ON MY STOMACH AND I CAN ALMOST FEEL HER LITTLE FEET/HANDS/KNEES/ELBOWS OR WHATEVER IS PUSHING UP AGAINST MY BELLY!

LOOKING FORWARD TO: MY FIRST BABY SHOWER!

Well the drama continues with the car situation, but I am sure everything will end up working out… I hope. Cory is still looking for dental associate jobs in Texas and Arizona we are hoping and praying for some interviews to come our way soon! I also had to go in for my gestational diabetes test (I know, I’m a little late) and apparently I am borderline so I have to go in for the three hour test, which is going to be hell! Not excited about it at all. Wish me luck!

HER MONKEY BODY HAIR IS CONTINUING TO SHED AS WELL. EVEN THOUGH HER LUNGS ARE THE LAST OF ALL THE ORGANS TO DEVELOP FULLY, MY BABY GIRL IS PRACTICING BREATHING 30 TO 40 PERCENT OF THE TIME. HER BONES ARE BEGINNING TO HARDEN AS WELL!

FEELING: PRETTY GOOD, EXCEPT MY TAILBONE IS STILL KILLING ME WHENEVER I SIT DOWN FOR A LONG TIME AND WHEN I STAND UP. IT’S THE WEIRDEST THING.

GENDER: A LITTLE GIL

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: I WENT AND TOOK MY MATERNITY PICTURES WITH THE EVER SO TALENTED CHRIS ISHAM ON TUESDAY AND WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME! HE IS SUCH A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER AND DOES EVERYTHING WITH REAL FILM! THE PICTURE I HAVE FOR MY 31 WEEKS WAS TAKEN BY HIS IPHONE SO I CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO LOOK LIKE ON HIS ACTUAL FILM! ANOTHER GREAT MOMENT OF THE WEEK WAS WHEN BABY WAS DOING HER USUAL KICKS AND MOVES ONE MORNING I PUT MY HAND ON MY BELLY TO FEEL HER AND IT WAS JUST THE MOST AMAZING THING. IT FELT LIKE I COULD ACTUALLY FEEL LITTLE PARTS OF HER BODY AND IT MADE EVERYTHING FEEL A LITTE MORE REAL. IT WAS A VERY SWEET MOMENT TO FEEL CLOSE TO MY BABY GIRL.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: FINALLY BEING ABLE TO HOLD HER IN MY ARMS AND TO JUST STARE AT HER! 9 MORE WEEKS!!!

Now this week has been quite a challenge with our car and future job situation. I am going to make this very long story as short as possible.. basically everything that could go wrong with our car went wrong this week. As I mentioned in my last post we were having some problems with the radiator leaking into the transmission. We got it fixed with a very large payment and the next day our check engine light came back on, so we took it in again and they said it was the thermostat but it wasn’t completely necessary to get fixed. So then then next day I got in the car to go to a chiropractor apt. that I had for my hurting tailbone, when all of a sudden as I was backing out the car just randomly turned off. We ended up having to get our car towed to the Nissan dealership and their was a recall on their ECS relay part, which was what caused our car to turn off without any warning. Luckily I wasn’t on the freeway or something! Then we found out that they were going to extend our warranty on our transmission because of faulty parts that they used in the car. But the problem was that they were requiring a $2500 co-pay for THEIR problem and not only that but they are going to have our car for a week and they weren’t even going to help us out with a rental car. So basically it has been a really fun time dealing with our car problems on top of Cory trying to find a new job. But like I’ve said before, I know that trials are meant to make us stronger and I am grateful for them. Although it is hard to get through now, we will look back and be grateful for these hard times together. 🙂

On a lighter note, I took my maternity pictures on Tuesday with Chris Isham (link to website above) and we had a great time! He is so incredibly talented and takes all of his pictures with film cameras only. The pictures I have here were taken on our iPhone’s so they aren’t even the actual pictures that he took. I can’t wait to see them when they are all developed! I cannot wait to meet this little girl of mine, I keep dreaming about holding her in my arms. Soon enough.. 🙂

14 Days of Valentine’s Day // Part 2

As I mentioned in my last post, our 14 days of Valentine’s day had a great ending and we had many good times and memories to remember of our last Valentine’s spent together as a couple without a child.

// DAY SEVEN //

Day seven started out great, mainly because it was a Friday and we had just picked up our car from the shop so we were good to go! (or so we thought.. until the “check engine” light came on on our way home – another story) But we drove up to Columbia, the capital of South Carolina because we had never been there and we heard about this cool hotel called The Inn at Claussen’s that used to be an old bakery that had been providing baked goods to customers throughout the Southeast from 1928 to 1963. In 1986 the Bakery was renovated and turned in to the Claussen’s Inn, but they continue on the bakery tradition and bring you complimentary freshly baked goods to your door every morning from their own kitchen! The room was very fresh and modern and their breakfast in bed was devine! We didn’t end up getting there until around 8 at night but we enjoyed a fancy dinner and dessert at a restaurant attached to the hotel. For some random reason they served the only two scruffy-looking people in the place their drinks in mason jars while everyone else got regular glasses. Weird. Overall day seven was a great day/night spent with my babe!

2

// DAY EIGHT //

As mentioned in day seven, we were awoken by the hotel staff bringing us the yummiest breakfast in bed! After we just chilled for a bit we got ready and headed to the Riverbanks Zoo. They had this awesome nature walk that led up to their botanical gardens, which happened to be holding an orchid show/competition that weekend, at exactly the time we showed up. Coincidence? Well since Cory’s favorite flower happens to be orchids I think not! As you can see in the bottom right pic, Cory is holding our new addition to the family, River. Named after the Zoo. The Columbia Zoo was pretty nice, we saw all sorts of animals, spent WAY too much time in the reptile house (because Cory is a proud animal nerd) and saw the grossest little naked mole rats dig in futility for their freedom. (see video below) I really thought that there would be more to do in Columbia, it being the capital and all. Turns out that it’s not exactly the cultural/party hub of the state. Charleston is, and we’re SO glad we’re right in the thick of it.

3

// DAY NINE //

For our ninth day of Valentine’s Cory made me some yummy cupcakes with our initials and our wedding date, saying it was the best days of his life. It was very sweet and I loved how he took so much time to decorate each cupcake. He is the best!

4

// DAY TEN //

Day ten was Cory’s 28th birthday! So I got up early and made him breakfast in bed before he went off to school. I had a pretty busy work schedule that day and I had a few meetings to go to, so I wasn’t going to be home to make him lunch during his break, but I did make him one of his favorite desserts which were mini key lime pies. Then later that night I baked up the yummiest three layer chocolate raspberry ganache cake and like I’ve said before, I am not much of a baker/cook so I was pretty proud of myself for making it from scratch! We ended the night at Cory’s favorite BBQ Restaurant with our friends and good memories made. Cory also got some great presents including a new iPad, some Cutco knives, an audible.com subscription, a crocheting starter kit and some yarn (he wanted to learn so he could crochet a blanket for our baby girl) and a nice one hour massage with chocolates and strawberries. He got a little spoiled, but he deserved it. 🙂

522

// DAY ELEVEN //

Day eleven was very simple and sweet. Cory gave me my favorite flowers and attached to each tulip he had a note saying one thing he loved about me. I always love fresh flowers in our home!

6

// DAY TWELVE //

The twelfth day of our Valentine’s  was my day, but it got postponed to the Monday after Valentine’s day because their was a change in the massage therapist’s schedule. But we enjoyed a one hour couple’s massage with chocolate covered strawberries and water since we don’t drink champagne. It was great because I ended up meeting my new chiropractor who specializes in prenatal care. It was an overall great experience!

10

// DAY THIRTEEN //

Day thirteen was Cory’s day and we decided to make it a really chill night and have a movie night! He let me pick a chic flic which he doesn’t really enjoy watching (obviously most men don’t) but I was so relaxed that I didn’t even think to take a picture, so I just posted a little quote I did by Vincent Van Gogh that I love.

27

// DAY FOURTEEN //

Now for the actual day of Saint Valentine! I started the morning off with a pancake breakfast for my seminary students at 6:30am. Then I was very busy with work all day until it was time to go on our date to Earth Art! Last year we went there and painted some pottery, we had a great time and we have really loved those pieces, so I thought it would be a good time to paint a piece again for our last Valentine’s day in Charleston! I decided to paint a mug, because I am obsessed with mugs! I dedicated it to our baby girl and wrote a little quote saying “dream big little one” with a bunny on the inside which is the theme I’m going for since she will be born right around Easter time. Cory painted a little “memory jar” that we use every year and put little pieces of papers in it with a memory that we had and at the end of the year we take them out and read our memories made throughout the year.

After our pottery painting we went back home and dressed up for a fancy french dinner at 39 Rue de Jean downtown off King Street. Following after we went home and my tailbone was killing me for some reason! It felt like I broke it, it hurt to walk or even sit or get up, I had no idea why it was randomly happening, so the fondu that I had planned to make and enjoy at the table was now in the back of my mind. So Cory, being the sweetheart that he is got everything ready and brought it to me in bed! So we just chilled and ate the yummiest fondu in bed and relaxed! It was a great ending to our 14 days of Valentine’s and I fell even more in love with my sweetie each day. I am so thankful I have such a wonderful husband and future father to my children, I know he is always going to take such good care of us and and strive to be the best dad he can be! Love you honey!

1

Well this week has been very eventful with many up’s and downs. I am obviously two weeks behind so all the things that happened may be meshed together, but first I’ll start with the up’s! We had the last stretch of our 14 days of Valentine’s and we started the weekend off with day number 7 with a road trip to Columbia for a little weekend getaway (more details on my 14 days of Valentine’s day post) then on Monday we celebrated Cory’s 28th birthday! I made him breakfast in bed, made mini key lime pies for his bday dessert and then I actually baked a three tier chocolate, raspberry ganache cake and I hardly cook or bake! (Cory is the main cook in our household) So I was pretty proud of myself and Cory was very happy too. 🙂 We had a great Valentine’s day together and we really enjoyed a fancy date night and fondu in bed as we just relaxed.

Now to some of the downs/trials of our week.. to make a really long story short, Cory is in his 4th year of dental school and will be graduating this May. For the past 3 1/2 years of school the plan was for Cory to work at a job that he had previously arranged, but right around New Years he was told that the job probably wouldn’t be there for him and that he should start looking around for a new one. This obviously came to us out of left field and we were suddenly in a completely new world. All of a sudden Cory was kind of jobless 5 months before graduation, where all of his classmates had two years to really prepare and plan where they will be going after graduation and we now have the whole US to look around and research for a good place to go. Now to shorten the story a bit, his former employer had told us that he could hire Cory on to do hygiene and some limited dental work for a while, so after we returned home from Arizona I was under the impression that we were still going to go back to Arizona and everything would be okay, until our drive to Columbia. Cory brought up the fact that we need to start preparing and looking for a new job. So the three places we thought would be a good place for us were Florida, Texas and Arizona. So with the whole job situation and not knowing where we are going to be, and a new baby coming a month before we move to the unknown place was heavy on our minds all week, and the thing to top it off, our car randomly decided to stop working properly… another long story short, we had to get a new radiator and we had to get our transmission flushed, which obviously was not a cheap fix. But the day after our car got fixed the “check engine” light came on. We had just gotten it looked at and a fixed about two weeks prior to this too. We drive a fairly new Nissan Xterra and it only has 85,000 miles on it, so our transmission shouldn’t be giving us this much trouble. Our window was also having a hard time rolling up and our back door randomly decided that it didn’t want to open anymore either which was pretty obnoxious too.

But although we are having a bit of a hard time right now, I know that Heavenly Father never gives us trials that we can’t handle. We are meant to learn and grow from trials and everything happens for a reason. No matter where we end up or what happens I know that everything will be okay and we will be thankful for the challenges we face in our lives. I know that storms don’t last forever and I know that we are still so blessed with the life we live. We are so lucky to be in the situation that we are. There are many people out there who are facing much bigger challenges. I painted this little saying that “storms don’t last forever” and I hung it in my office to remind me everyday that we will figure everything out soon and the sun will shine again!

14 Days of Valentine’s Day // Part 1

In the spirit of Valentine’s day and the month of love, Cory and I are doing our second annual 14 days of Valentine’s day! We did it last year and had a blast, so we decided to do it again. Here is the post from last years 14 days on my Ruffled Ink site >> here <<. Basically how it works is starting on the first day of February Cory starts it off with a little romantic gesture or gift and we switch every other day who is in charge of the Valentine for that day. So I am even days and Cory is odd days. I will post days 1-6!

3

// DAY ONE //

As I stated above, Cory started off day #1 and definitely started it off with a bang! I was out running a bunch of errands and when I got home I big banner spelling “I LOVE YOU” was hanging in front of the door. Sweet Cory got different colored felt and cut out each letter and hung it with gold pipe cleaners for the banner and then cut out a bunch of hearts and lined the whole stairway with them. At the top of our stairs we have a big chalkboard so he drew a picture of a swan boat with a banner above it saying “TUNNEL OF LOVE”. So basically he made me a little “tunnel of love” leading up to our actual apartment. It was the cutest thing ever! I love it when he does cute and creative things like that. Then he told me to get ready for dinner and a movie! So we went and got sushi (pregnancy friendly kind of course) and went and saw Frozen, which was such a cute movie! It was a great start to our 14 days of Valentine’s.

DAY 1 DAY 1_1

// DAY TWO //

Day two was my day, it was a Sunday so I got up early and made Cory a french toast breakfast! It isn’t often when I cook a good breakfast so it was a nice little surprise for him. It was obviously heart themed, so I made heart shaped french toast, strawberries and bacon with eggs and some yummy Choffy, which is a coco based chocolate drink which is divine. I was going to take him breakfast in bed but he was already starting to get up before I was able to get it to him. Although he was still very sleepy, hence the yawning pic.

DAY 2 DAY 2_2

// DAY THREE //

Day three was pretty awesome, because for the past week I had been craving maple donuts so bad, but I couldn’t find any! (I was also not looking very hard) So that night Cory came into my office and gave me this wrapped surprise with the sweetest homemade card and inside were my maple donuts!! I was so happy! Then he gave me a mini cut out heart saying that he got me a 1 year subscription to Martha Stewart Magazine. I absolutely love getting her magazine every month at the store, so from now on I will be getting them in the mail. Yippee!

day 3

image_3

// DAY FOUR //

Day four was my day, so I got Cory one of his favorite things; crew socks! He wears dental scrubs all day so the only way he can put some personality in his daily wear is through his socks, so he loves to wear different colored and patterned crew socks. I also got him these awesome Field Notes notebooks, which he has been wanting a good pack of mini notebooks to carry around that didn’t look too girly and then of course some of his favorite chocolates! He was a happy guy and couldn’t wait to wear his new socks. 🙂

DAY 4

// DAY FIVE //

Day 5 was a pretty crazy day for both of us. I was busy with work and client deadlines and Cory had a lot of work to do at the clinic and then he also had to work late doing screenings for potential patients for his final boards exam in March. So he wasn’t going to be home until around 10 that night. So to make sure we saw each other I walked over to the hospital and we had a romantic Subway dinner in the cafeteria 🙂 Then that night even though Cory was so tired and ready to relax and go to bed, he still managed to give me my Valentine for the day, which was a basket of delicious chocolates and another homemade sweet card! I love love love homemade cards, because I know there was a lot of effort put into it. He is amazing and so incredibly sweet and thoughtful.

// DAY SIX //

Today is day six, and I made Cory this little notebook with all the things I adore about him. Then we went to take pictures for today’s blog post (I’m a little late on my 29 week pics) and we got a quick bite to eat and then headed to the frozen yogurt shop and made some yummy concoctions!

HOW BIG IS BABY? 15.2 NCHES WEIGHING 2.54 LBS POUNDS  – ABOUT THE SIZE OF AN ACORN SQUASH

DEVELOPMENT: BABY R’S BRAIN IS NOW IN CHARGE OF MAINTAINING BODY TEMPERATURE AND ALSO CONTROLS BREATHING. HER IRISES CAN NOW RESPOND TO LIGHT BY DILATING AND CONTRACTING. ALL OF HER INTERNAL ORGANS ARE MATURING AND PREPARING TO FUNCTION ON THEIR OWN AT BIRTH. THEY SAY I MAY EVEN FEEL HER COUGH, BUT I DON’T THINK I HAVE FELT THAT YET. MY BABY’S SKIN IS BEGINNING TO LOOK LESS WRINKLY AND MORE LIKE WHAT IT WILL LOOK AT BIRTH. HER HEAD IS MUCH MORE PROPORTIONATE TO THE REST OF HER BODY. THEY SAY THAT BABY IS BURSTING WITH ENERGY AT THIS POINT AND I CAN DEFINITELY NOTICE THE BURSTS OF ENERGY! ESPECIALLY TODAY, IT FELT LIKE SHE WAS JUMPING ON MY BLADDER LIKE A TRAMPOLINE. SHE WAS DOING THAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES!!

WEIGHT GAIN: WELL I’M STARTING TO GET DEPRESSED. (NOT REALLY) BUT I HAVE OFFICIALLY GAINED 15 1/2 LBS. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE SCALE THE OTHER DAY I ALMOST DIED. IT IS NO FUN SEEING THAT NUMBER GO UP, BUT OF COURSE I KNOW IT IS GOOD! BUT ALL I KNOW IS THE MOMENT I AM OKAYED TO WORKOUT I AM GETTING A PERSONAL TRAINER AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE FLABBY BUT FOR ME! 🙂

SLEEP: SLEEP IS SAME. I HAD SOME CRAZY DREAMS THE OTHER NIGHT, BUT NOW I CAN’T REMEMBER! I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS, BUT I KNOW THEY WERE REALLY CRAZY AND PRETTY HILARIOUS.

MISSING: BEING ABLE TO SLEEP ON MY BELLY AND NOT FEELING LIKE A WHALE WHEN I TRY TO GET OUT OF OUR BED. (WE HAVE A MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS SO YOU REALLY SINK IN THERE)

CRAVING: NATA.

FEELING: PRETTY GOOD, BUT I FEEL LIKE MY SKIN IS ABOUT TO RIP. MY SKIN IS GETTING ITCHY AND MY BELLY BUTTON IS SLOWLY GETTING PUSHED OUT. IT’S NOT AN OUTIE YET, BUT I JUST HOPE I DON’T GET ANY STRETCH MARKS! I HAVE BEEN USING MAMA BEE BY BURT’S BEES AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING PRETTY WELL.

GENDER: A LITTLE GIL

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: 14 DAYS OF VALENTINE’S BEGAN! LOVE THIS TIME OF MONTH. ♥ ♥ ♥

LOOKING FORWARD TO: OUR WEEKEND GETAWAY TO COLUMBIA THIS WEEKEND WITH MY BABE! IT IS PRETTY RANDOM THAT WE ARE GOING THERE, BUT WE HAVE NEVER GONE TO WANDER THROUGH SOUTH CAROLINA’S CAPITAL SO WITH THOUGHT WE WOULD STAY THERE OVER THE WEEKEND AND EXPLORE THE CITY AND MAYBE GO TO THE ZOO! (HOPEFULLY IT WON’T BE TOO COLD) I AM ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO CORY’S BIRTHDAY ON MONDAY. HE IS GOING TO BE THE BIG 28!!

29 weeks (1 of 4)

As I mentioned above, we started our 14 days of Valentine’s day which is always a great start to a week. I mean who does like to be showered with gifts and love from their husband every other day until Valentines day? (More about in the next post) I also decided to get a little crafty this week and sew some soft animal toys for my baby girl! I posted them on Instagram and I had a few people wanting them that I decided to put them up for sale on my Etsy shop. So if you would like one go ahead and get ordering! I also got my hair trimmed and colored.. I don’t know if I am a huge fan of it but what can you do? I wanted to dye it all jet black, but I was kind of scared to put that much color/chemicals near my scalp so I just got highlights that were supposed to be red, but then ended up being more of a caramel color. But it’s okay! I’m just glad I was able to get in and get a trim, my hair really needed it! Below is my before picture of my hair, not much of a change! (Also, I hate selfies so it’s kind of awkward for me to post this, but Cory wasn’t home to take a picture)
